A fundraising variant that L'Arche Kenya uses for i "Stretching our Limits #UpMt.KenyaByWheelchair" campaign and that was new to me. Hereby, not payslips are distributed in front of a shopping mall but shopping lists.

Around the crater

And once more a trip of the hiking group came up: This time we went to Mount Longonot near Naivasha. It is the crater of a volcano that erupted about 5 million years ago and is considered asleep.

Thoughts on waste disposal

The disposal happens here individually, that is, everyone burns his rubbish behind the house. There is a garbage collection service, but they do not come to my house. And they do too just burn the waste on open ground at the town's edge.

Twenty Years

Recently I was invited to a celebration for the 20th wedding anniversary of one of my office colleagues. We - that is two Comundo guests from Nairobi and me - went off.

Where is the water?

Recently I came home and the water was gone. My roommate had already noticed it and learned that it also affected the neighbours to the left and the right. The whole row of teacher's houses, including that of the headmaster, was on dry land.

When the neighbours build a house for you

During 2018, St. Martin CSA started a new project aimed at people with mental health issues. In a pilot phase lasting 6 months, a team of social workers assesses in a defined area near Nyahururu the occurrence of mental health problems and examines whether the approach of St. Martin can be applied to tackle this topic: Giving immediate assistance before engaging the neighbourhood to care for the long term needs and find a sustainable solution that allows the afflicted persons to lead a dignified and fulfilled life.

Kyudo in Kenya

The Comundo people in Kenya and the respective partner organizations meet twice a year to discuss the country program, to learn together and to exchange ideas and experiences. Part of the event is also an excursion. This time we went to the Kereita Forest.

Geology Lesson in Hells Gate

This time the hiking group headed to the Hells Gate National Parc near Naivasha. It's a relatively small park situated between impressive sandstone cliffs and two old Vulcano plugs.

Elephant Hill

My second hiking tour in Kenya: This time I join up with a hiking group from St. Martin, we want to climb Elephant Hill in the Aberdare Ranges, just over 3600m high.
